ARC Review for Caraval

Welcome, welcome to Caraval

Scarlett has never left the tiny island where she and her beloved sister, Tella, live with their powerful, and cruel, father. Now Scarlett’s father has arranged a marriage for her, and Scarlett thinks her dreams of seeing Caraval, the far-away, once-a-year performance where the audience participates in the show, are over.

But this year, Scarlett’s long-dreamt of invitation finally arrives. With the help of a mysterious sailor, Tella whisks Scarlett away to the show. Only, as soon as they arrive, Tella is kidnapped by Caraval’s mastermind organizer, Legend. It turns out that this season’s Caraval revolves around Tella, and whoever finds her first is the winner.

Scarlett has been told that everything that happens during Caraval is only an elaborate performance. But she nevertheless becomes enmeshed in a game of love, heartbreak, and magic with the other players in the game. And whether Caraval is real or not, she must find Tella before the five nights of the game are over, a dangerous domino effect of consequences is set off, and her sister disappears forever.

From the beginning  I was curious. Then I became intrigued. And then I became a bit obsessed about the fact that I needed to get my hands on Caraval. I was a bit skeptical of course, the fact that it was being The Night Circus  wasn’t exactly helping it was nice book but definitely not too crazy about. Caraval is a roller coaster of twists and turns. It has you sitting on the edge of your seat and sure you might be you will be a able to predict something and it takes you on a completely different turn. The game is not what you think, its completely different from what you expect whats coming. Caraval knows how to play with the reader, and its just SO SO good. You think only Scarlett is playing the game, but your playing the game along with them, and finding engrossed the story. You feel yourself in the game, fighting for your sister even though you might not have a sister), as you turn the pages you feel yourself falling in love with Julian and the game. As the story unravels, each page brings you action, things you never saw coming.Overall the plot and story weaves together to form a book full twists and turn, with real and lovable characters that you will never be able to forget.
